RSM (X5302) in Cat5000?

I am preparing a lab to study ML Switching and have acquired a Cat5000 w/Sup II, and borrowed an RSM module--along with some other switching modules.

Everything works except the RSM. During POST, the RSM module status light comes up and remains red, and the CPU Halted LED is lit. It appears that the software versions are all correct.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Software configs are:

Console into the RSM and see if it is sitting in ROMMON. If it is, issue a maual boot.

There is no output to the RSM console port. Pressing return has no affect either. It seems like the module isn't getting to the point to process console I/O.

Again, thanks.

Try a different slot, if you still have the same issues and console does not respond, I would suspect bad hardware. RSM is supported in CAT5000 chassis. Here is an example form my lab switch(which has a Sup3)

Re: RSM (X5302) in Cat5000?

Same results in each slot.

One other thing. I noticed that four LEDs on the RSM board are on: CR6, CR8, CR11 & CR13.

I don't find any documentation on the Cisco site that describes the value of the on-board LEDs.

Anyone know of a way to learn what the various LEDs mean?

Again, thanks. -psf
