I have to replace an a RSM module on Catalyst 5509 in product.

It's arrive at me RSM module from RMA procedure.

It has a PCMCIA card.

The Catalyst is working with Ios loaded from slot0:

Can I insert the PCMCIA of the new RSM , on slot1: and does it copy IOS from the resident PCMCIA an slot0: while the switch is working?

Have to I format the card before?

After you bootup the RSM, you can copy between slot0: and slot1:. You should not have to format the card before use.
