Dear All,

I have a 512KB internet leased Line to ISP

I have Users in my network who will access internet applications (Browsing) via Proxy Server

Network users will also send E-mails over Public Network.

I want to Seggregate the available bandwidth given by the ISP in a way described below.

I want to reserver 50% bandwidth i.e 256Kbps for Browsing

Rest 50% i.e 256 Kbps will be used for sending and receiving e-mails over public network

I am using Cisco 2500 series router.

Also do I require to do bandwidth reservation setting at the ISP end or only doing it on My router will solve the purpose.

Pls advice how can I achieve the above scenario

Workaround Config is Welcomed.

Thanks

You can try out with rate limiting and Generic Traffic shapping technique for reserving the bandwidth for different application on the WAN link. This technique allows you to dedicate fixed bandwidth based on your application type.

Hope this links help you

I would recommend using Custom Queuing - it is designed to do EXACTLY what you are trying to do - it filters traffic by bandwidth and will work on 2500. For more info:
