Selecting SNMP management machines

I want to do this: I have two SNMP management machines, both have the same community configured (one belongs to me and the other belongs to a hacker).

I want to configure my network equipments to answer SNMP gets from my machine, but not from the hacker machine.

I cannnot change the community.

TIA

Hi,

you don't have a chance to configure this with snmpv1. You need snmpv3 with views.

Re: Selecting SNMP management machines

Hi

maybe this is what you 're looking for:

you can restrict the snmp access for a community string with:

creating an access-list which allows only your managment stations ip-address

access-list 22 permit

and restricting the snmp access to your equipments with

snmp-server community RW 22

here RW means read-write, you can use RO instead if you want read-only

22 ist the number of the access-list

Hope this helps
