Send alerts from CiscoWorks 2000 RME

Hi,

Is it possible to send an email alert or any kind of other alert from RME ? I'm using the availability section of RME to track connectivity to all systems, its' not the best but it gives an indication. It would be good to get an alert if RME sees that a given router is not reachable anymore... By default I don't think it's an option in the software, but maybe someone found a solution for this.

Many thanks,

Guy

If you're looking to do Fault Management with your devices using CW2K, then RME is not meant for it. You can use Device Fault Manager (DFM) which is the right application for this purpose. Details for DFM can be seen at:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/dfm/index.htm. However, since RME has a built-in Syslog server and can do Syslog Analysis, you can setup the Syslog Automated Automated Action where you can add and modify command-line instructions to be executed automatically whenever a specific message type is received. This CLI script can also send email for that syslog message, if setup properly. See the RME on-line help for more details and examples.
