serial line protocol

If my serial line carries many bad CRC

Is it a good idea to install a protocol with windowing control and error recovery at level 2?

Now I have two 2610 in back to back

configuration IOS 12.0 and PPP protocol

on a point to point CDN line.

Is it ok Sdlc? or is there better protocol? How do I install protocol?

Re: serial line protocol

If there are manny CRC errors the best approach

is to correct the line behavior.

All the protocols you will use will try to retransmit

the errored frames. If the CRC's are often enough

you will have a very poor performance on the serial line.

USe LAPB as Layer 2 protocol with error detection and correction.
