Hi ciscobuddy's,

I hv 2 6506 core in my network and 3500 switches (3508,3512,3524,3548) in Distribution and Access. Taody we hv purchased server's for that i hv to provide 1000Base T connectivity to Server Farm.

i hv decided to purchase WS-x6516-GE-TX module or 3550 switch (1000T).

can anyone suggest me is there any other switch is available. so i can save my company cost.

How many servers need 1000Base T connectivity ? Future expansion ?

The WS-C3508G-XL-EN switch (you have one already) will also do 1000Base T "if" you can use the WS-G5483= GBIC. Just check IOS compatibilty etc. The Cisco website claims this GBIC as one of the accessories for the 3508.

I'm not sure of the cost involved though but keep in mind you have to add the cost per GBIC for each server you want to connect + your uplinks.
