server switch redundancy

desire to cable internal servers to two seperate switches for redundancy in case of switch failure. have redundant firewalls between internal servers and external dmz servers (internal servers talk to dmz servers). dmz servers to be cabled to two switches as well. what is recommended implementation / products? can this be done with NICs on seperate networks and Layer 2 switches? can traffic be load balanced across all switches as opposed to active / standby switches? would this imply special load balancing switches as opposed to regular Layer 2 switches? what about server default route issues if NICs on seperate networks?

Re: server switch redundancy

many new servers which has dual NIC cards can do fault tolerance /adaptive load balancing so that you can one to each switch within the same VLAN/network.

There is not the easy way to load balance the same server with two NICs to two different network unless you do some kind of SLB( server load balancing)

Following URl might explain in more detail
