set option long-cable disable

I had an enquiry about the purpose of the following command found in CatOS 8.4, "set option long-cable disable". I wasn't able to find this in the command lookup tool. If enabled, it says you must now configure debounce on the ports. The question asked is if this can help when exceeding the maximum distance for Cat5/6 cabling. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: set option long-cable disable

without a repeater of some sort, going beyond the Ethernet specs of 100 meters is not recommended.

i don't think this is a feature that will allow you to go beyond the 100 meter limit
