I think GLC-T supports speed auto-sensing. At least 100/1000. I initially thought it didn't, but found that it actually does when I was doing some testing with Cat 3750-12S (12-port SFPs) with a couple of GLC-Ts, and accidentally connected FastEthernet switch to the SFP. Maybe Cat 3750's feature, you might say. The answer to that is: nope. Tried connecting 100FX port to GLC-SX-MM, didn't work.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
