Hello all,

Apologies for this lame question but, can someone tell me to which device the txload and rxload values refer to in a 'show interface fastethernet' command please?

i.e.

reliability 255/255, txload 62/255, rxload 2/255

...I can't find an explanation anywhere!

Thanks in advance,

Colin

The txload and rxload are the bandwidth across the router port itself being consumed by transmit and receive traffic respectively. This is most likely to multiple devices.

Thanks for the reply: so in essence, the 'txload' is a measurement of the traffic being received from the node which is physically connected to the switch or router port?

Cheers,

Colin

No.

The TX and RX part is as seen from the router's perspective, so txload is the load that the router sends on the interface (output) and rxload is the load that the router receives on the interface (input).
