show interface : Input queue output and ignored packets

All,

I'm looking for information why I have so many droped and flushed packets when I issue a show interface VLAN xxx on a C6509 hybrid mode...

Input queue: 0/75/66138/2971290 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0

Is it due to buffer failures?

What are the ignored packets??

5 minute output rate 55000 bits/sec, 38 packets/sec

2808064904 packets input, 2655727393 bytes, 347 no buffer

Received 2600070099 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

530197077 packets output, 1625183005 bytes, 0 underruns

0 output errors, 1 interface resets

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

Thanks for your help,

Pierre

The output seems to indicate buffer unavailability. The 'ignored' count indicates the number of received packets ignored by the interface because the interface hardware ran low on internal buffers. These buffers are different from the system buffers. Broadcast storms and bursts of noise can cause the ignored count to be increased.
