show mac

Why does the total uni, multi, broadcast rcv bytes not equal the rcv-octets?

Re: show mac

Rcv-unicast/multicast/broadcast is count of frames, they are not byte count. Packets can ofcourse be various sizes. Another command you may be interested is "show counters "

Re: show mac

My mistake. My question should of read. On a "show mac" command, the total rcv-unicast/multicast/broadcast frame counts don't match the rcv-octet frame count. They are both counting frames? So why the difference?

Re: show mac

rcv-octet is not a frame count, it is recevied octet count.
