I want to be able to show how the port is configured for a PC / Server. I have the Ip address and mac. I just need to know if it is 10/100/1000 half/full duplex.
Is there a way? or do I have to purchase ciscoworks?

for all cisco platforms using IOS:
show int
for Cat OS
show port x/x will tell show you the speed and duplex.
for catalyst switch running IOS, you can alos run:
show inter
Switch#sh int fa 0/1 stAtus
Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type
Fa0/1 connected 1 a-full a-100 10/100BaseTX
Switch#
"a" means it was auto-negotiated and the port is doing 100 and full duplex.
Pleae rate all posts.

6400 series. but I am trying not to telnet into the switch but detect it from the workstation. Is there a web based read only view for a switch. If I provide the mac or ip address and it would tell me 10/100/1000 half/full/auto.
