Show queue serial output when traffic shaping is on.

I have recently applied traffic shapping to two routers.

I have been doing a show que (interface) and am a little confused by what I am seeing.

RXL505#sh que s1/0

Output queue for Serial1/0 is 3/60

Packet 1, linktype: ip, length: 44, flags: 0x8

source: 172.31.5.5, destination: 172.31.1.40, id: 0xF575, ttl: 255,

On the Output que for Serial1/0 x/60 does this value indicate that the packets are in the "normal que" I am thinking that the 60 is the max for the normal que.

20 for high and 40 for medium 60 for normal and 80 for low.

2nd question . If I prioritize certain protocols eg dlsw (2065) telnet (23) and citrix (1494) does that mean everything else is "normal": or low.

Also the routing protocols themselves what would they be considered ???

tks Ann Marie

Re: Show queue serial output when traffic shaping is on.

To your 2nd question:

When you configure priority queing its recommended to configure the default traffic to one queue. So you can be sure that the deault traffic is the normal or when you want in the low queue.

Peter
