simple Switching Question

Hello everyone, got a quick question, currently we are using a bunch of hubs and a unmanaged inexpensive netgear switch, we are about to purchase a Catalyst 2950-24 port Switch, I wanted to know if this will cause any problems with the Netgear unmanaged switch with STP or looping? Anything else I should be considering? Im just starting to get into Cisco equipment, and pursueing my CCNA, Any help on this implementation would be appreciated!

Everything will depend on how you implement the new switch in your network and the capabilities of the network devices. You don't need to worry about looping packets unless there are loops in your network. If there are loops, STP is designed to prevent looping packets by blocking ports as needed. You may or may not need STP. If you tell us more about what you plan to do and how you plan to do it, we'll be able to give you a better answer.
