Slow Traffic

Hi

Please my users are complaining about slowness in opening files off the network.

The situation is such that at various times of the day (this varies so cannot really pin it down) they can open up large files very fast about 3-4 secs and then lets say about 10 minutes later, the same file will take about 15 minutes to open. This is happening rather frequently. What is causing this.

One of my thoughts is that there might be a rogue network card spewing out bad packets. But how can I find out.

How do I find out what is causing this. Devices are on a combination of Catalyst 6509 + MSFC and 4000 series.

Thanks for your urgent help.

How is your duplex strategy? Any chance for a duplex mismatch?

Otherwice, a faulty nic shouldnt affect that much in a switched environment, but you'd better hook up a sniffer to see what's happening.

what does a "sho int count err"/"sho port count" give? Any leads?
