Hi, 

Do you habe any recommendation which Sowftare I should use for Smart-Install with "C6880-X-LE-SUP".

I've problem with my Smart install setup.

If you have a recommendation please tell me.

2.  Elaborate the "problem" with your ZeroTouch SmartInstall.

I've a setup with a c6800 switch wich is the vstack director tftpserver and dhcp Server. The clients are c3560cg , c2960 and c3850... The management vlan is 78, the uplinks are trunks/channels.

1st problem we've had was . Spannungtree. After stp Filter enable at the remote end this problem was fixed. But not anymore zero touch.

the 2nd problem was that we've to change the native vlan to vlan 78. 

the 3560cg was close to work , we saw updating the software file but not the config file.

i've checked that the files are in the correct folders. I hope.

what i could not see that the clients registered in the database. I saw an entry in the database when i've enabled an vstack-director temporary in the c3560.  But never from c3850.

do you have any idee what could be wrong ?

Console into the 3560CG, erase the config and the VLAN.dat files and reboot.  

Post the entire boot-up process.  I want to see the SmartInstall process in the console.

Could you please provide the below info.

On IBD do "sh vstack status" -> once smi is configured. Client has to be displayed.

Are you trying this scenario to test the system, so that you can try few things like

On IBC:

wr -> check the backup config is stored on the IBD

wr er and dont save the config

reload

On IBD:

check the image list file is created, backup is stored.

enable "debug vstack down"

Check the download status on IBC by "show vstack down"

Hi Santosh

I will quick check if this is working without software image update. I've tried this at the begin, but I've had some other issues.

bdw: I've 2 cosmetic issues.

1st: I'm using VLAN 78 (our Management VLAN) therefore I've to set the native VLAN from 1 to 78

2nd: maybe you have a workaround for this. I'm using a channel/trunk between the client and distribution Switch. "Spanning.tree enabled....". At the begin it gives me an error inconsistent.... then I saw in a forum" spanningtree bpdufilter enable at the distribution Switch and it helps. But then it's no longer "Zero Touch". and a risk if the "onsite guy connects "2 links and the operation guy configure both links with the filter". Do you have any idea how to do it without "bpdufilter enable" ?

After that I'll try to do it with 3850. hope this works as well.

What exactly the reason for using Smart Install/ZT?

Ah got it, you are using image which is old and it doesn't support image only or config only ZT upgrades!!

In latest version the fix is available and will be able to do image only, config only ZT upgrades, now you have only on-demand image upgrade option which is good to use and easy, Cisco tool will behelpful to understand which release supports your requirement.

Again thanks u very much for the support. I've a workaround with this release. We have to do after 10 minutes a reload again, then the Switch will come up with the correct config. Even he has the same image configured :-)
