If Help Desk people at my company have an application (such as Solarwinds/Orion) and have only the snmp read string, are they prevented from downloading router or switch configurations and then uploading them again?
Obviously if one would telnet to the router, they could make changes to it, no? Or are you saying, if you ONLY have the RO, then you can't make changes to the router? But if you don't have any SNMP configured, then changes can be made, correct?
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
