SNMS 1.5 Problems with Essentials ManagedDeviceMap

Hello,

I have installed SNMS by a Customer. Reason was, that he had

performance problems with SNMS Version 1.5. So i have deinstalled all

components (Cisco SNMS and WhatsUp) and I also deleted the Program

File Folder. Than I installed SNMS Version 1.5 new with IDU 5.0,

Update 1 and than IDU 7.0.

Afterwards I have backuped the map files for whatsup. Than I imported

the devices from the maps to Essentials. Now my problem starts, when

I click on Cisco Works WhatsUp Page it starts to generate the

Essentials ManagedDeviceMap. In WhatsUp Gold it creates only empty

map pages for each device. It seems, that Cisco Works has problems to

export the information from the inventory to WhatsUp. And always when

I log on to Cisco Works it starts to export the Essentials

ManagedDeviceMap. Does anybody have an idea what I could do? Is there

a possibility to stop the creation of this map?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Can you let me know the following ?

1. Is the Map getting created in the customer's file

system? Please do a search on the file system with

the name of the map. There is a possibility that the

directories which the maps are supposed to be stored

does not have proper permissions.

Directory information on where the map should be

stored is available under Configure->Web Server-

>General->Map Directory.

2. Get me the stdout.log from

Directory>/MDC/tomcat

directory which might give us a clue on the problem.

Hello Ganesh

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately the customer has installed the whole server new and we will install SNMS new. If we will have again problems i will check your points.
