Software for Management ?

Hi all,

we are looking for management software and tools to manage a small LAN network - 3 sites, around 8 switches 2900 - 2950, and 2 cisco pix / 2 cisco aironets. Would the cutdown version of ciscoworks be the way to go - we want the ability to see network issues as they happen / bottlenecks and potential network problems also.

The web console to the switches is ok but I have heard ciscoworks is better - is there any other form of software that is cheaper and bettter to use ?

Re: Software for Management ?

Hi,

I would try CiscoWorks for Windows (but I'm not sure if it supports PIX and Aironet)

or SolarWinds Enineers Edition (http://www.solarwinds.net/index.htm)

or see http://www.nwc.com/1405/1405ibg1.html to choose the right product.

There are some freeware tools (MRTG, KIWI - http://www.kiwisyslog.com/index.htm), too.

But none of these cheap products will provide you with "potential network problems" tool, I'm afraid.

Regards,

Milan
