software-forced reload loop on sys-2-mallocfail error

I loaded the CISCO 2600 Feature Pack Release 11.3(4)T RSL Version 7.1 successfully to my CISCO 2610 router. Then after a reboot, I received the following errors:

SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL: Memory allocation of 156692 bytes failed from 0x801DC244, pool I/O, allignment 32

TTYDRIVER-2-NOBREAK: Unable to allocate break block from I/O mem

System received a SIGTRAP exception

The software will then do a reload and will self decrompress the immage. I will get the OK after the decrompress and then it will start the process all over. I am now in a loop with this situation and can't break it. I have powered the unit off and when I power it back on, it starts the loop all over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is just a helper.....you may have resolved your issue.

You had those messages because the router does not have enough I/O memory available for buffers.

What you need to do is to reduce other system activity to ease memory demands. If possible you may want upgrade to a larger memory configuration.

Refer to below link for more information on how to deal with router memory issues.

I hope this helps. Better late than never.
