hi!
when i working with 3550-emi switch , i find some problems .
1 in my network ip address 10.12.82.0/24 were subneted into 8 vlan
the 3550 act as layer 3 switch , when i config the switch ex vlan, ip routing
correctly, but the vlan svi can't be ping correctly , how can i active the vlan
svi, except add some layer 2 interface to the specified vlan . Are these any
methods to active the vlan routing ?
2 how can i configue the switch to make it can be managed througt telnet,
how can i add an ip address to make this possible? the management
vlan must be vlan 1? , i can't find the command to set other vlan to be for managemnet (ios 12.1(11)ea1)
thanks

Hi,
1) AFAIK, you need one L2 port active in the VLAN to SVI become working on L3. It's the same as on classical router: if the port is down on L2 it will not respond to ping on L3, too.
2) When your 3550 is routing it can be managed through any IP interface.
When it's not routing there is only one VLAN interface active (VLAN1 default). If you want to change management to VLAN2, e.g., configure int VLAN2, IP address ...., no shutdown (and shutdown should be done on VLAN1 interface).
