Hello! Sir.

I got a little problem with the BRI interface status.

Would you please take your time to answer me the following questions.

1) What are the normal status with the BRI interface in the state of connected

to the line from the Service Provider and disconnected perspectively?

2) What's the difference between configuing backup interface command

with the primary interface and not configuring when using DDR backuo?

Thank you very much!

Looking forward to your reply!

1)If you look at "sh int bri x" it should show as UP/ UP(spoofing)...this basically is the signalling channel..."show isdn status" should say layer1 ACTIVE / layer2 MULTIPLE_FRAME_EST.

If the isdn BRI call is connected (B1/ B2 channels) then we need to see:

show int bri x 1 2....connected b-channel with say UP/UP & not connected will say down/down.

2)This question is not very clear...do mean difference between backup command & floating static routes ? Below URLs have info on backup.

Thanks, Mak.

Hi! Mak

Thank you for your answer first.

Let me make my second question more clear.

Actually, I want to implement a ISDN backup instrastructure to keep

the primary WAN connectivity more reliable and available,to be more

detailed,I want to the BRI dial-up when the primary link fails. So,of course

I have to configure DDR with the dialer profiles, because I want share

the BRI links at the central site to connect multiple branches. My

question is,after configuring the dialer profiles,do I still have to

configure the 'backup interface 10 30' command with the primary

link? will it work as I expected if I don't use this particular command

with the primary interface.

another question is, what do you suggest about the routing?

put the dialer interface into the OSPF area or use floating route?

which one is a better solution? Actually what I worry about is if

the OSPF hello packet will cause the BRI interface keep dial out

at a certain interval, which is not I expect.

Thank you!
