SPAN 2950 automatically shutdown line-protocol. Any way to get it UP again?

Dear Cisco'ers,

I am trying to attach a third-party IDS to CISCO 2950 and to

port-mirroring:

cisco2950(config)# monitor session 1 source interface Fa0/4

cisco2950(config)# monitor session 1 destination interface Fa0/2

now the problem is that this automatically sets port Fa0/2

line-protocol-DOWN.

FastEthernet0/2 is up, line protocol is down (monitoring)

Hardware is Fast Ethernet, address is 0009.b792.8542 (bia

0009.b792.8542)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,

My New IDS can not defferentiate the TCP/UDP packet if Line-Protocol

is DOWN.

I know there must be a way to set it UP again while still do

monitoring(SPAN).

Can somebody please help

Thank's in Advance....

No, You cannot. When you configure a switch port as a SPAN destination port,

it is no longer a normal switch port; only monitored traffic passes through the

SPAN destination port.

There is a enhancement request filed and our development is working to incorporate this feature in future releases
