Can anyone tell me how to detect a spanning tree loop easily ?

switch cpu at 90-100% combined with a general slowdown to meltdown of the network. its not a pleasant experience.

Apart from the CPU utilization, how exaclty can i pin point the location. Can you please list the detection methods.

Hello,
Detection :
Slow network.
Loose ping.
Network down.
Bad Communications.

Anyway :
- do a cartopgraphy network with root bridge.
- verify switches configurations (port-fast, uplink fast, stack-port,...)
- go on the switchs to see if you don't see topology change like using:
- sh spanning-tree
- sh spanning-tree vlan X ( Number of topology changes 64 last change occurred 00:20:05 ago)
