Spanning-tree & Etherchannel

Hi,

I've got two questions:

STP packets issued by a switch are sent on all physical links of an etherchannel or only on one physical links based on the load-balancing algorithm of etherchannel ?

in other words, the STP process generates STP packets then move them to the etherchannel process that decides the physical link to use ?

Re: Spanning-tree & Etherchannel

Hi Ced,

STP BPDU frames are sent only on the first physical link in the etherchannel. They are not subject to the hashing algorithm.

This is also documented here:

HTH,

Bobby
