Spanning tree problem

My network is very slow. By sniffing the network, I have noticed that a MAC address is genereting a lot of traffic broadcast/multicast as it want to become the root bridge for the SPT.

I have try to find out the manufacteur with the Mac @ and i supposed it should be a Cisco switch.

Could someone confirme me that the following MAC address

00-03-6C-1E-F6-01 is a Cisco switch and how can I find it on the network.

I have used CPD protocol and some others commands on 6500 ( show cam..) but withous success .How could I find this switch on the network.?

Re: Spanning tree problem

It is a Cisco device. You can check for OUI at

http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/oui/index.shtml

Do a "sh cam 00-03-6C-1E-F6-01" and trace it from there
