Spanning Tree Wierdness ?

One switch in our LAN keeps intermittently sending STP updates that it is the root, only to receive update from the true root - creating a lot of unnecessary BPDU messages. Tried all sorts even replacing switch in question - but cannot understand why keeps thinking it is the root.... any ideas welcome ?

Could there be some unidirectional links on the network? Try to assign it the highest priority value.
