static routes - hit counts

Is there a way to show how many times a static route is used or hit - similar to access-lists? Currently have a 7200 using IOS 12.2.7. Thx...

Unfortunately not. There is no logging on how routing decisions are made.

Re: static routes - hit counts

Create an extended ACL as follows

access-list 101 permit ip any [dest of your static route] [inverse of dest mask] log

access-list 101 permit ip any any

Then apply 'ip access-group 101 out' to the outbound interface that your static route uses. Technically, the ACL will be hit every time your static route is hit. I'm assuming the admin distances are left as default, and your static is not a floating static route.

Not pretty, but it may achieve what you're looking to do.
