status between 6509 and 3550

My network has 3 Cat 6509 and there is a VTP domain for all faculties and some organizations and then for Science faculty,I configure another VTP domain,my question is I have to set switch port between 6509 and 3550 to trunk mode or access mode?

If 3550 is set to L3.,VTP domain on 6509 is NET1,and on 3550 is NET2

VLAN for Science faculty (on 6509) is VLAN40

You would have to configure the port to Trunk mode. This is one of the conditions for a VTP domain. For further understanding an clarification, use the following document:
