Status of 10 GE port on redundant SUP V

Hi

I have to install many 4500 with 2 core 6500. 6500 is having 10 GE module while 4507R only have 10 GE on its 2 SUP(WS-X4516-10GE), now i have to run OSPF between these switches also.

I would be connecting 1 10GE port on active SUP on 4507R to 10GE module on 6500 and other 10GE port on standby SUP of 4507R to other 6500 10GE module.

My q. here is does 10GE ports remain active on a standby SUP also, as otherwise i would not be able to use port on standby SUP.

Regards

Hi Ashish,

Yes, you can definitely use them as L3 ports, and the secondary 10G interface will show up in the running config as well.

Hi,

When two Supervisor Engine V-10GEs are present in a Catalyst 4510R or Catalyst 4507R switch, one 10G uplink is active on the primary (active) and one on the secondary (standby) supervisor engine by default, or two uplinks will be active in a nonredundant configuration.

Hi Bobby

Can i use these two ports as l3 ptp ports and run ospf on these two ports.

Also in running config will i be able to see the 10GE port on standby SUP.

Thanks and Regards
