Hi all,

my topologie :

A1--D1-\

\/ | \------B1---D5--A5

/\ | / | \/

A2--D2-\ / | /\

\--/---B2---D6--A6

/ /

A3--D3---/ /

\/ | /

/\ | /

A4--D4----/

Note:

A:accès switch (5509/CatOS 5.1(1))

D:distribution switch (6509/CatOS 7.4(3))

B: Backbone switch (6509/CatOS 7.4(3))

Can you tell me if the STP diameter is for A1 to A4 = A1-D1-B1-D5-A5-D6-B2-D4-A4

I can't use PVSTP+ because i have a 5500 and CatOs 7.4(3) on 6500, but i need PerVlan STP.

If you have any suggestion, tell me.

Regards

Fab

'cuse

It's not easy to draw with characters when editing characters is different to viewing characters :)

My topologie :

A1 and A2 is attach to D1 and D2

D1 is attach to B1 and D2

D2 is attach to B2 and D1

B1 is attach to D5 and B2

B2 is attach to D6 and B1

etc...

Remplace dot by space in Arial:

A1--D1---B1---D5--A5

...\/..|......|.......|..\/

.../\..|......|.......|../\

A2--D2---B2---D6--A6

If all are bridges (Layer 2) and you consider more than one point of failure, than what about path:

A1-D1-A2-D2-B2-D6-A6-D5-B1-D3-A3-D4-A4 = diameter 13

note that IEEE STP considers maximum diameter 7

you should probably try to cut it somewhere using layer 3 device(s)
