STP Issue

I had some question about STP

1. According with my diameter topology , I want to change BPDU parameter , I want to know whether just change root switch or all designate & root all need to change BPDU information

2. If I changh using RSTP , need i to do modify max-age or forward delay parameter

Re: STP Issue

Not sure what you want to change , but generally unless you are having some sort of problem it's better to leave the settings as the default .

Re: STP Issue

1. all the BPDU parameters are changed on the root switch for each vlan.

2. With RSTP , we do not use the max-age and the fwd-delay parameters since the BPDUs are sent by all switches and BPDUs are invalidated in 3 * hello_time which is 6 seconds ( if max_age set to lower then this time , then BPDUs are invalidated in that time) . No need to change these parameters since RSTP results in fast convergence anyways.

HTH.
