STP Priority between HP Procurve,Intel,Cisco Catalist

In the configuration of the Spanning Tree protocol i have seen there are different value for the STP under the different system.

Cisco & Intel set the default priority at 32768,the range is 0-65535

HP Procurve set the default priority at 8, the range is 0-15.

Are the value in relationship through them? 15 is correspondent to 65535?

When the STP makes the recalculation of the best paht how does it works?

Thanks

Re: STP Priority between HP Procurve,Intel,Cisco Catalist

I just looked at the docs for one of them, and the default for STP Priority was 32768 it looked like (going off of the screen shot of the config screen). There are a couple ProCurve Models so I might have been looking at the manual for the wrong model switch.

I'd go to the HP website and get the config PDF for the model you have.

Re: STP Priority between HP Procurve,Intel,Cisco Catalist

Thank but I have find the solution:

In the STP the priority value of the HP Procurve is mulptiplied for 4096 for the switch priority (Bridge Priority) and is multiplied for 16 for the port priority

Ex:

Cisco: Bridge Priority 32768 - Port Priority 112

HP: Bridge Priority 8 - Port priority 7 (8*4096=32768 and 7 *16=112)

The STP recalculation take the value in the correct mode .
