STP question..

We have a 6009 switch running CatOs 5.4.4, we are enabling portfast on all user ports, and we have BPDU guard enabled on the switch. Now we need to connect a proxy server with L2 capability to the switch but we do not want that device to communicate with our switch using spanning tree, So we want to do something like disabling spanning-tree for that port so that they cannot change our topology with updates, or make our switch ignore the BPDU it receives from that device. We can’t disable BPDU guard because of security reasons. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: STP question..

Hi,

set spantree bpdu-filter on the port (I hope it's available in CatOs 5.4.4).

If bpdu-guad still disables the port, try to clear spantree bpdu-guard on the particular port.

Regards,

Milan
