STP, Uplink fast

In a (not so well designed) switched network I have two directly connected Cat6500 as root and backup root switch.

To those two, I have several cascades (10)of access switches connected. The cascades consist of 2-5 switches and are connected to both 6500 in each end. The root switches also route 60 vlans.

All this is in one VTP domain.

Now to the question:

On the access switches between the 6500, is it a good choise to use uplink fast?

Re: STP, Uplink fast

It is a good idea if you are looking for improving the convergence time of STP in the case of a failure.

If you have a doubt about how to implement it, just follow the guide:

Re: STP, Uplink fast

It depends. XL switches support cross-stack uplink fast feature (CSUF, see cisco documentation), this is what you need to enable in your case. Classical uplinkfast will not help you much in this case.
