Strange problem with Serial interface on 3640 router

Hi,

we are facing a strange problem, if our IPLC link goes down, even then sometimes on the router serial interface, the link protocol is shown as "UP", we have a multiping utility and the modem both show as "Down", but sometimes the router reports as "Up", any suggestions???

Have you set the keepalives? This is sometimes the case when keepalives are turned off.

Can you tell me how to set the keepalives??

Sai, keepalives are on by default and therefore will not show under the interface config. If, however, you elect to change the interval or disable them, it will appear under the interface config.

The command is keepalive .

is it link Up or protocol Up (looped).Also tell which LED u r getting on Modem.In the End of show interface serial 0 r u getting DCD UP or not ???

Which modem u r using for that.
