Sub-interface & HSRP on Catalyst 6509 L3 Switch

Recently, we need to change the IP addressing on a server farm and the LAN network is using Catalyst 6509 L3 as the backbone. We would like to have multiple IP networks on the same VLAN for the migration. Is IP sub-interface and HSPR support in same VLAN on Cat6k(Assumed to use different group for HSRP)? Is this a reliable and common solution for mulitple IP networks on same VLAN on Cat6k?

Yes that should work and should be reliable short-term. You might want to talk to a TAC rep to be sure.

I would think secondary ip address would be common for multiple subnets in a vlan. Again it is not common solution and you should clean it up once the migration is done. You should use different hsrp group for each network
