Subinterface or map statements ?

What is the difference between X.25 map statements under a serial Line and the use of serial X.25 Subinterfaces ??.

We have problems with one ore more X.25 Connections via SVC.

Here are some extracts of the config.

interface Serial0/0

bandwidth 256

ip address 10.254.7.253 255.255.252.0

no ip directed-broadcast

encapsulation x25

no ip mroute-cache

x25 address 45201050013

x25 htc 170

x25 map ip 10.254.4.1 00492419039056

x25 map ip 10.254.4.2 00492416088424

!

ip route 126.220.113.0 255.255.255.0 10.254.4.1

ip route 126.220.112.0 255.255.255.0 10.254.4.2

With this Configuration it is not possible to set up an SVC to the remote Site.

But if we change the config to the following:

interface Serial0/0.1 point-to-point

ip address 10.254.7.252 255.255.252.0

no ip directed-broadcast

x25 map ip 10.254.4.1 00492419039056

no cdp enable

!

interface Serial0/0.2 point-to-point

ip address 10.254.7.251 255.255.252.0

no ip directed-broadcast

x25 map ip 10.254.4.2 00492416088424

no cdp enable

then it works fine. The SVC will be set up and we can ping the remote networks

So what could be the reason that it works with subinterfaces and not with map entrys. ??

Thanks for your responses

Re: Subinterface or map statements ?

Have you tried the x25 map command with the broadcast keyword?
