Suggestions Needed : Documenting Policies and Procedures for Maintaining cu

Hello,

I looking for any links and suggestions on documenting procedures. Here is what I have been asked to supply management with:

1) Procedure on creating Blackbooks [i.e. configuration, IOS version, modules, connections]

- Routers, Switches, Servers, VPNs, Firewalls

2) Evaluate SMNP tools and design OOB

3) Create a policy for 1teir, 2teir, 3teir access rights to what commands [i.e. show commands, clear commands, acls and so on..]

4) Creating a policy for network change notification. [i.e. who to notify, outage time, durations, and so on]

5) Maintaining procedures for the equipment

6) Develop documentation, training, policies, and procedures to reduce downtime

The British Standards procedures would be the right kind of documentation, which you are looking for. The URL for the same is: http://www.bs-7799.net/

Stephen,

You can find some good whitepapers and E-books on this topic at: http://www.alterpoint.com

It may not address each of these areas but can provide some guidance on the topic of configuration management.
