summarising routes

can anyone give me a good example when to summarise on a router when say using eigrp ? say we have 3 networks all with 10.0.0.0/24 networks attatched and then the serial interface connects to another network, would we summarise on this serial ?

Also if we had 3 /30 point to pointlinks attatched, ehere would we summarise these, would we do it under each interface ?
