sup720 console can display, can not input

Hi

A strange problem. The Cat6 with SUP720 is working fine.

We can telnet into it. However when we console into it, the console can only show, but does not allow us to type anything.

We tried to clear line console 0, but it is the same.

Do I really need to reboot the switch just for this small problem? help!!

not sure what you meant by "the console can only show, but does not allow us to type anything."? when you console in, do you get a prompt at all? Have you checked the configuration of the terminal emulation if it even works on other switches? This is a good test to do to confirm terminal emulation is configured correctly.

Please rate all posts.

hello

We can see the log messages shown on the screen (e.g. interface up/down). Since we can not type anything, it will not prompt for username password.

(for IOS switch, you have to press 'enter' key to get username/password prompt).

The same terminal emulation works perfectly on all other switches. It is even working on the same switch redundant sup module.

Can you telnet to the switch? Can you post the configuration starting from "line con 0"?

Are you using the same set of console which is tested in other equipment ? Try to replace the console cable.

Hi

The same console cable is used for all other switches without problem. It is also working on the backup sup module.
