Supervisor II in Cat 4006 continuously sending ICMP type 8

A client of mine is using a Cat 4006 with a Supervisor II module and it is constantly sending ICMP type 8 packets to the firewall. Could anyone help?

It's default gateway points to the firewall and the show user command does not show anyone else logged into the switch.

TIA

Paul

Re: Supervisor II in Cat 4006 continuously sending ICMP type 8

Cat4000's (and maybe others) ping their default gateway once per second to see if it's up. If a gateway is detected as down, it has the capability to failover to a second configured gateway. I'm not aware of a command to disable this behavior.... Anyone?

T,

Thanks for the reply! This switch is not accessed from any remote subnet so I cleared the default route and they went away.

Thanks again and have a great weekend.
