Hi, does the 2950 save running config to startup automaically as is with 1900. If so, i have just done some configurations on our switch(Vlan and VTP). How do i get the switch back to the config i had previously (before the vlan etc).
Nops 2950 will not save the config on its own. You have to run the command "wr mem" to save the running config into startup config and if you reload the switch without "wr mem" it will loose all the config which you might have done.
Also you can bring the switch to default configuration by just erasing the config file.
Also few things to remember if you have created vlan through vlan database mode then the vlans will be saved in vlan.dat file which will be saved by default and even if you reload you will find the vlan information but all the config related to VTP will not be saved till the time you issue "wr mem" command.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
