Switch Access

Am trying to access our newly purchased switch via telnet and it is prompting for a username/password. We have set up two passwords to get to the switch but no known username? When I try to enter in our passwords alone I get nowhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time that I have used this type of troubleshooting so forgive me if I have not done something standard. Thanks

do you still have access through console ?

If so, try to change your config.

If you don't see what is wrong, send us a copy.

If you also have trouble to access the switch via console, you will need to do a password recovery.

I have never seen a username and password on a switch , the only time I have seen this if it was set for authentication via tacacs or some authentication before logging in , are you sure it is not set up for tacacs ? If it is set up on the authentication server itself and you would have to get that from the admin . of the tacacs server .
