Switch having feature of VPN & Packet Filtering

Can someboady help me to know the low end Switch that can be configured for VPN, Packet Filtering etc... within a switch itself?

(1)How many users will be connected to that switch?

(2)Lower end switch will not have VPN capabilities.

(3)You can go for Cisco Catalyst 3550 or 2970 EMI for switching requirements and Cisco PIX 515e for VPN requirement.

Hi JD,

1. Users will be about max 32 to that switch.

2. We are looking for the single switch which does have feature to configure as VPN along with Packet filtering as well.

3. Not seperate switch & Firewall, we are looking single device that have feature of all these. As looking into Cisco Catalyst 6500 series, it seems to have that feature. But any other switch below this model can have such feature?

6500 with VPN module is the only option for you. No other switch supports the feature you are looking for.

(1)Are you sure you wanted to use a "core" switch at an "access" layer.And that too for 32 nodes?

(2)The cost of one VPN module in 6500 will be greater then a PIX, forget the price for 6500 chasis.
