Switch is calling for help

and I don't know what to do for it!

My 2900 Catalyst XL has three VLANS on different subnets. VLAN1 is on my WAN. Port 1 is connected to the WAN port of my firewall, Port 2 is connected to Ether0/0 on the 2611 router. I haven't been able to telnet to the switch and get it to respond so I consoled in and found it constantly complaining with:

4w5d: %LINK-4-ERROR: FastEthernet0/2 is experienc 156169061 packets output,

A show interface of the two ports provides this information:

Any ideas what I need to do to alleviate its problem? It appears to be working but is clearly not happy!

Thanks for any input!

Pat,

I did notice in your output that e0/2 autoset itself for half dulplex. You have a very high number of late collisions. This indicates something full duplex is stepping on the port. You should manually configure your duplex and speed settings and see what happens.

Scott

That fixed it! Many thanks and Merry Christmas!!
