Hai buddies, please answer the following question.
If I enable simple port security on a Cisco switch with a certain no: of maximum supported MAC addresses, is this limit applicable only for unicast MAC addresses? or does it include multicast MAC addresses as well within the max linit of MAC addresses?
I'd imagine it applies to both because you're never supposed to use a multicast MAC address as the source address in an Ethernet packet, so there would be no reason (that I can see) to make an exception when implementing port security. With this in mind, is there a particular reason why you're wondering about this? It shouldn't make a difference if none of your packets are sourced by multicast MAC addresses.
