switch's LED don't change to green

Hello,

The Cisco Catalyst switch 2955 is connected to another switch (extreme) with VLANs configured, the Cisco switch ports never change to green, and stays amber…

What are the possible problems…

Look at the port status for those ports (show interface or show int status) as well as the spanning-tree status (show spanning-tree). Check for any blocked or err-disabled ports. Also check the logs to see what they say.

There are several possible causes:

1:Trunking mismatch > hard-code either access- or trunk mode (nonegotiate)

2:Port is spantree blocking > remove loops from the network.

3:Speed/duplex mismatch. > use fixed settings on both ends.
